so I'm trying to get involved with a local group who shoot regularly to 600yrds. I have a great open site deer rifle that I want to leave the way it is. I want to get a Great Accurate but cheep rifle to use to shoot with them. I may use it for deer and coyote hunting but for now Just for shooting challenges to 600 yrds. I have a BSA Panther scope and a Leupold Vari-XII 3x9. Would either of these work for this? Also what would be a good off the shelf rifle for this? I was thinking 308 or 7mm-08 and have been looking at some Savage 110 models and some Howas but I once had a Weatherby Vanguard in .243 win that I loved the the action but sold do to poor accuracy consistancy and I know Howa and Weatherby are the same actions and last I heard were made in Japan. I'm open to any advice but please keep in mind money is a factor. Even if I get a good rifle and use one of my scopes until I can afford a better one.
